Hi ๐Ÿ‘‹ weโ€™re Herralink

Herralink is a volunteer organization that bridges the gap between generations, connecting high school students with residents in retirement homes. ๐Ÿ’š

Herralink was created to help bring back the vitality of human connection to those who matter most: our seniors.

By uniting the eagerness of youth with the wisdom of age, we hope to create genuine, authentic relationships.

Why It Matters

61% OF RESIDENTS REPORT FEELING LONELY

60% OF RESIDENTS NEVER HAVE VISITORS

50% OF RESIDENTS HAVE NO CLOSE RELATIVES

How Can Herralink Help you?

  • Companionship

Seniors often experience feelings of isolation; our program aims to provide regular companionship, helping to alleviate loneliness.

    Meaningful interactions

Interacting with enthusiastic young volunteers can lead to increased cognitive stimulation and a sense of being valued.

    • Studies show that students who actively volunteer are 34% more likely to be in excellent or very good health.

    • 35% of student volunteers are less likely to have behavioral problems.

    • Student volunteers over the age of 12 are 25% less likely to have anxiety versus those who donโ€™t volunteer.

    • Research conducted by psychology professors such as Laura Carstensen at Stanford University reveals that connecting experienced seniors with students can enhance their problem-solving and emotional skills.

  • While our events are to connect high school volunteers with a resident in a retirement home, we want to welcome everyone to Herralink!

From neighborhoods to churches and even daycares! If you want to help make a difference and brighten a resident's day, please join us!
